Fanny Brice's journey from being a tender, forgettable, stage-shy young girl to becoming a national star is enacted in the theater show, Funny Girl. It is based on the happenings in her life that took place just before, during, and after World War I. Her narrative happens in her early years in the Lower East Side of New York City, where the young teenager clowns her way through burlesque and vaudeville while hoping to succeed despite being put down by her family and friends who say she is not talented enough to be a star on stage. It also tells the story of her relations with Nick Arnstein, a charming local whose appeal Fanny finds irresistible, as well as the eventual failure of their marriage. The musical presentation at the Virginia/August Wilson Theatre features a number of show-stopping numbers like "People" and "Don't Let It Rain on My Parade," which spectators absolutely love. Expect jaw dropping cast performances as well as breathtaking visuals. It goes without saying, but because people want to see this one-of-a-kind show, tickets are quickly running out, so be sure to grab yours before it's too late and someone else obtains what should be yours.
