Funny Girl at August Wilson Theatre

Fanny Brice is a adored comedienne who soared to celebrity status even though many of her friends and neighbors told her she was not beautiful enough for the spotlight. Her tale begins in her irrepressible youth on New York's Lower East Side, where the stage-struck teenager fumbles her way through burlesque and vaudeville. Fanny is a smart one; she has a brilliant voice and big aspirations and knows she can make it. At some point, Fanny's heart is instantly taken by Nick Arnstein, a handsome and charming gambler with a softer side. Her chance at fame is finally here with her forthcoming performance in the Ziegfeld Follies. Her only obstruction is that Nick Arnstein, who is completely unaware to her feelings, is constantly disappearing on "business" trips. After a passionate encounter in Baltimore, Nick and Fanny accept their emotions for one another, and Fanny bravely leaves the Follies to join Nick across the ocean. Nick wins a big sum of money, and the couple quickly gets married and settles down. Fanny has to make a a difficult choice between her stunning career in show business or her adoring husband, who despises her success more and more as it grows. What an spectacular story line, but remember, tickets are limited, so be sure to get yours before it is too late.
