The protagonist, Fanny Brice, is superb even though she is not meant to be the attractive type, at least not according to her family and friends. She is blessed with a gorgeous singing voice, a razor wit, great personality, and eyes that can penetrate your very soul. She's certainly out of the ordinary.
Her narrative arc starts as a young, brave performer on the Lower East Side of New York City, working through the worlds of burlesque and vaudeville. Fanny is a gorgeous singer with a clever mind who has faith in herself despite the cynicism of her loved ones.
As the story unfolds, Fanny is taken completely with Nick Arnstein, a classy gambler with a tender side. Nick, however, seems unable to get that Fanny has fallen for him, as evidenced by his regular absences that she thinks to be "business trips."
Eventually, during a passionate encounter in Baltimore, Nick and Fanny tell each other their feelings for one another, and Fanny bravely decides to travel across the ocean to be with Nick. Due to a windfall won by Nick, the two decide to get married. Fanny's husband is starting to get increasingly jealous of her success in the entertainment industry, and so she must now, especially with a viable career path as a entertainer choose between her work and their relationship.
With such an awesome plot, you really should not pass up this fantastic chance to watch this one as tickets are still available now, but they won't be for long.
