Funny Girl is based on exploits in the life of Ziegfeld Follies leading lady, Fanny Brice shortly before, during and after World War I and chronicles her rise from being an delicate, unattractive, stage-struck young girl to national stardom. Her narrative starts with her young days in New York's Lower East Side, where the young girl goofs her way through burlesque and vaudeville, wishing to make it big despite the discouragement of her friends and family, who tell her she isn't star material enough for the stage. It also covers the story of her love for and subsequent failed union to Nick Arnstein, an elegant, sophisticated man whose allure Fanny finds attractive. The show is full of the stunning music that anyone would come to expect from a show of this quality and included are several show-stopping numbers such as "People" and "Don't Let It Rain on My Parade". Since everyone wants to watch this one, tickets are fast becoming unavailable, so be sure to purchase your tickets before it is too late and somebody else gets what is meant to be yours.
