Her story begins with her young days in New York's Lower East Side, where the young girl fluffs her way through burlesque and vaudeville, dreaming of making it big despite the discouragement of her friends and family, who tell her she isn't pretty enough for the stage. It also covers the story of her love for and subsequent failed union to Nick Arnstein, a handsome, man about town whose allure Fanny finds attractive. The theater production is full of the unforgettable music that anyone would come to expect from a show of this caliber and included are several show-stopping numbers such as "People" and "Don't Let It Rain on My Parade".
